Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started using tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these missions have become.

Comprehending BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one main guns present in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Task

Another Reddit user highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

Currently, the audience continues to express their views on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
